Rights and takedowns

SignalFlow is music from the people who made it: originals, remixes with the original artists credited, mixes with tracklists. When something that is not yours to post slips through anyway, this page is how it comes down fast. A remix credit never overrides the rights holder: if they want it down, it comes down.

Our designated DMCA agent

SignalFlow has a designated agent registered with the United States Copyright Office (registration number DMCA-1075116) under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, 17 U.S.C. § 512.

Filing a takedown notice

For a notice to be effective under § 512(c)(3), it needs all of the following:

Your physical or electronic signature.
Identification of the copyrighted work you believe is infringed.
The URL of the material on SignalFlow you want removed, specific enough for us to find it.
Your contact information: address, telephone number, and email.
A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner.

We act fast: flagged music is unpublished pending review, and complete notices are processed within two business days.

Counter-notices

If your upload was removed and you believe that was a mistake or a misidentification, you can send a counter-notice to the same address with: your signature, identification of the removed material and where it appeared, a statement under penalty of perjury that the removal was a mistake, your contact information, and consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for your address (or any district where SignalFlow may be found, if outside the US).

When a valid counter-notice arrives, we forward it to the original claimant. If they do not file a court action within 10 to 14 business days, the material can be restored.

Repeat infringers

Accounts accumulate strikes for confirmed infringement. Three strikes ends the account. This policy is enforced and logged.

Before it ever gets here

Every upload is scanned against a commercial fingerprint database at publish time. Matches to released music are held before they reach the public catalog. DJ mixes carry automatic tracklist attribution. The takedown process backstops the scanner, not the other way around.
